Subjects
in the Bachelor of Multimedia
During
my study in the Bachelor of Multimedia, I enrolled in the following
subjects:
- Digital
Video Production
This
subject included production skills for further application within
multimedia production, including video camera work, microphone techniques,
lighting, script writing, non-linear video editing. Results are
a short movie and a webpage
incorporating RealVideo.
- Multimedia
II
This
subject taught me a comprehensive understanding of multimedia technology
and its associated nature, language and genres. It emphasised the
project management side of the production process, but also covered
topics on effective design and interface principles. In an interdisciplinary
environment, my group developed a CD-ROM application for the "Graduate
Certificate of Multimedia".
- Professional
Practice
This subject gave
me further experience in business and management skills, like accounting,
ethical and legal practices. I majored in "one-to-one web marketing"
and my assignment investigated the usage of personalized webpages.
- Multimedia
Project
This
subject required analyses of a complex multimedia system problem
to design, implement, install and test a high-quality solution.
It gave an in-depth insight into software engineering and project
management of large information technology projects. During this
one year subject, my group "Übermedia" designed and
implemented the Intranet based Induction
Program for Blake Dawson Waldron, a major Australian law firm.
- Cognition
and Computation
This
subject gave me an in-depth insight into neural networks. The knowledge
I gained on how people think and learn is valuable for my work on
instructional design. As a result of the subject, I developed a
neural
network in Javascript.
- Multimedia
In
this subject I learned how to integrate elements of multimedia to
achieve effective interaction strategies and communications objectives.
We also had many guest lectures from people in the multimedia business
which made it possible for me to compare German and Australian use
of new technology.
- Media
Culture
This subject examined
the history and context of contemporary mass media through notions
of consumer culture, audience participation and cultural politics.
I did a presentation on "How new media will affect television"
and also investigated "Interactive games for large audiences".
- Additional
subjects
I also did the following
extracurricular subjects:
Distributed Multimedia
Systems, Computer Animation and Multimedia Authoring
