Media Arts and Sciences

I was awarded a Master in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). To be precise, this Master of Science or MS was received from the MIT Media Lab.

The MIT Media Lab is a worldwide renown research institute that delivers first-class research to corporate sponsors. One of first famous publications out of it came from its founder, Nicolas Negroponte, and is entitled "Being Digital".

At the MIT Media Lab, I was first a member of the Digital Life group, and then switched to the Affective Computing group under Rosalind Picard. I was the first student allowed to spend one year at the newly created Media Lab Europe, where I worked in the Human Connectedness group.

My GPA at the MIT Media Lab was 4.7 out of 5.0, where I also attended more classes than required in order to learn as much as possible.

My thesis "Exertion Interfaces: Sports over a Distance for Social Bonding and Fun" was awarded with an A+.

My research at the MIT Media Lab can be found under the portfolio section; amongst others, I developed interfaces that

  • read your mind through your mouse
  • use your laughs to summarize video
  • allow your ears to be in two places at the same time
  • tracks a marble to edit your movies
