Tele-academy Furtwangen, Germany

I was given the chance to do a project with one of the leading open learning institutions in Germany, the "Tele-Akademie" in Furtwangen. In a team of three we recorded all of their teaching sessions, edited the video material and cut down the content to make it net suitable. We also restructured the content, designed the webpage, and put the RealVideo files on the Internet, taking into account learning principles.

The content creation and video editing process was completely different to "normal" video productions. I learned a lot about education and instructional design in terms of producing content for the Internet. I was able to use this knowledge for the other distant education company I was working for, Queensland Open Learning Network. I had the unique opportunity to compare tele-teaching techniques from Germany, which are often targeted at people with limited time availability, with those in Australia, where most students live many days travel away from anybody else.
